PADERO

WHAT IS PADERO?

The project “Participatory Design in Robotics for Elderly Care in Germany & Japan“ (PADERO) develops scenarios for the use of social-interactive robots in practice as well as for further education and the development of nursing care. In Japan, the University of Siegen will explore and communicate the opportunities, challenges and possible implications of using robot-based technology and its related digitalization with robot developers and other partners within the field of nursing care and research institutions.

WHAT IS PARTICIPATIVE DESIGN?

At the heart of the strategy of PADERO, there is the so-called participatory and value-oriented design: the caregivers, the people needing care and their relatives are involved in the development from an early stage. Their experiences, needs and ideas are taken into consideration in this professional exchange. PADERO promotes open discourse between interested robot developers, companies, health care and care institutions, politics, interest groups and academia. In this way, it quickly becomes apparent, how professionals, people needing care, trainees and relatives benefit or are otherwise challenged by the use of robotics in the field of health care and nursing care.
